Houston’s Restaurant in Addison Gets New Life as American Eatery Brentwood
Brentwood comes from the operators of Hudson House and East Hampton Sandwich Co.
A group of Dallas restaurant operators have snapped up the former Houston’s restaurant on Belt Line Road in Addison, a legendary piece of Dallas restaurant history.
Houston’s served customers for nearly four decades before it closed in mid-2020. Long-timers still miss it.
Brentwood will be a Western-American restaurant that comes from Vandelay Hospitality Group, the Dallas company that created East Hampton Sandwich Co. The company also operates Drake’s Hollywood, a steakhouse; Nashville hot chicken brand Lucky’s Hot Chicken; and American restaurant Hudson House, which has grown to three locations in North Texas.
It seems fitting that the restaurateurs behind Hudson House would take over a former Houston’s restaurant, because Hudson House has serious Houston’s vibes: They both have an upscale yet simple American menu served in a handsome dining room.
Of all of Vandelay Hospitality Group’s restaurants, Brentwood will most resemble Hudson House’s cozy, approachable neighborhood vibe. But there are key differences in the food: Hudson House is known for its oysters and East Coast feel. Brentwood will be more meat focused and takes its inspiration from Western cities like Aspen, Colorado, and Santa Fe, New Mexico.
The menu will include steak, fish and pizzas. (Fans of Drake’s pizzas will recognize the pies at Brentwood because they are baked in the same kind of oven.) Brentwood’s chefs will also bake rosemary focaccia, brioche and jalapeño cornbread on site.
The restaurant’s patio will be twice as big as it was when Houston’s was there.
The restaurant is expected to open in fall 2021.
Brentwood will be at 5318 Belt Line Road, Dallas.
