Martini Bar and Bistro to Open in University Park – here's when and where
Go to “Paris for an hour and a half” when this new Dallas restaurant and bar opens
The newest restaurant addition to Snider Plaza in University Park wants to transport you nearly 5,000 miles away to Paris.
Le Bistrot Bar Sardine, which comes from Vandelay Hospitality, the Dallas restaurant group behind Hudson House, D.L. Mack’s and Anchor Sushi Bar, among others, is set to open on Dec. 20, 2024.
Leading the culinary efforts is executive chef Elliot Azoulay, who relocated from Paris to lead the kitchen and was trained at culinary school École Ducasse. Azoulay gained experience cooking at La Fontaine de Mars and Le Petit Lutetia in Paris and three-star Michelin restaurant Le Petit Nice in Marseille. The first two are both favorites of Hunter Pond, who leads Vandelay Hospitality
The menu pairs Parisian flair with Mediterranean flavors in its technique-driven small plates and dishes.
“I want our guests to feel like they’re in Paris for an hour and a half, two hours when they come to Bar Sardine. My dishes celebrate the simplicity and elegance of French cuisine, where each ingredient is meant to shine,” said Azoulay in a statement.
Authentically French classic dishes like escargot ($19), artichoke barigoule ($19), salmon tartare ($21) and eggs lyonnaisse ($17) are set to make an appearance. (Many dishes on the menu appear in their native French as a heads-up.) Shareables and appetizers, like cheese, charcuterie, prosciutto and melon ($21), and honey truffle brie baguette ($21), also play a role. There are also three types of French fries: plain-Jane frites ($9), frites Diane ($11) and truffle frites ($16).
Like Vandelay’s other restaurants, signature cocktails have been crafted to compliment the Bar Sardine menu. Think a caviar martini ($20), comprised of Grey Goose, toasted rye, white peppercorn, Dolin Blanc bitters, ossetra caviar, and chocolate negroni ($17) with campari, creme de cocoa and chocolate bitters.
Le Bistrot Bar Sardine opens on Dec. 20, 2024. It is located at 6805 Snider Plaza, Dallas. Reservations can be made online at thebarsardine.com.
